Standard Solar Acquires Two Community Solar Projects from Cenergy Power

Standard Solar, a community solar project developer, announced the acquisition of two community solar projects totaling 9 MW in Illinois from Cenergy Power, a solar project developer.

The Worden project in Worden, Illinois, is a 6.7-MW single-axis tracker community solar project that is expected to produce about 11,060 MWh of clean energy in its first year. Meanwhile, the Zion Park District project is a 2.4 MW ground-mounted community solar project in Zion, Illinois, and is anticipated to generate 3,529 MWh annually. Combined, the two projects will supply nearly 15,000 MWh of renewable energy each year.

With the addition of Worden and Zion Park District, Standard Solar’s portfolio of owned, operational, under-construction, and contracted projects in Illinois is stated to surpass 35 projects and nearly 200 MWs.

Cenergy Power developed the projects, while Standard Solar will own and operate them. Residents and businesses in the area can subscribe to these community solar projects, thereby lowering their electricity bills without the need to install solar panels on their property.

“Standard Solar continues to be an exceptional partner in advancing community solar across Illinois,” said Chad Chahbazi, Senior Vice President, Project Development at Cenergy Power. “They don’t just acquire projects — they ensure they succeed. Their financing expertise, execution speed, and long-term ownership model make them a reliable, results-driven partner and a tremendous ally in expanding clean energy access to communities throughout the state. Cenergy has now developed and built nearly 20 large distributed solar projects in Illinois and continues its mission to benefit local communities with its clean energy projects.”

In the first nine months of 2025, approximately 29 GW of solar projects were acquired compared to 28.3 GW in 9M 2024, according to Mercom’s 9M and Q3 2025 Solar Funding and M&A report.

Earlier in November, BOOM Power, a solar and battery storage project developer, completed the sale of two solar projects totaling 110 MW in the U.K. to Enray Power, a solar and storage project developer. The sale includes Firsfield Solar, with an installed capacity of 71 MWp and an export capacity of up to 46.9 MWp, located in West Suffolk, and Osgodby Solar, with a capacity of 42.9 MWp, situated in North Yorkshire.
