Project Finance Brief: Grenergy Completes $475 Million Solar, Storage Project Sale

Grenergy, a Spanish clean energy producer, has completed the sale of Gabriela, the fourth phase of its Oasis de Atacama energy storage platform in Chile, to infrastructure investment manager CVC DIF for an enterprise value of $475 million. Gabriela comprises 272 MW of installed solar capacity and 1,100 MWh of energy storage. The project has entered operations, triggering the completion of the transaction announced in September 2025.

ENGIE Zielona Energia, a subsidiary of the French utility company ENGIE that operates as a provider and producer of renewable energy in Poland, has acquired a special purpose vehicle developing a 438 MW/876 MWh battery energy storage project. The project, located in Trębaczew in Działoszyn municipality, was initially developed by Mithra Energy and Futureal Investment Partners, a member of Futureal Group.

BW ESS, an energy storage project developer and operator, has acquired two utility-scale standalone battery energy storage projects in Spain from Spanish renewable energy and storage developer Navacant. The projects, located in the Valencia region, have a combined capacity of 126 MW and up to 675 MWh of energy storage capacity. The individual projects have capacities of 99 MW and 27 MW. The acquisition expands BW ESS’s presence in Spain, where the company has been active in the energy storage market since 2025.

U.K.-based renewable energy developer Anesco has secured project financing from Lombard for three solar and battery storage projects in the U.K. The financing covers the 21 MW Woodwalton solar project in Cambridgeshire, the 50 MW/100 MWh Rothienorman battery energy storage project in Scotland, and the 48.5 MW Coven solar project in Staffordshire. The Woodwalton solar project is operational and generating electricity. The Rothienorman battery storage project is in the final stages of construction and is expected to proceed to commissioning.
