Project Finance Brief: Avantus Secures $300 Million Tax Equity Funding

Avantus, a U.S. developer, owner, and operator of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects, has closed a $300 million tax equity commitment from Truist Bank for the Aratina 2 solar and battery storage project in Kern County, California. The commitment follows more than $525 million in construction financing secured in July 2026 from BBVA, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, and Santander. The financing package includes construction funding, a tax equity bridge loan, and letters of credit.

Invenergy, a privately held independent power producer and developer of energy infrastructure projects in North America, has secured a $215 million tax equity investment through a Crux-managed vehicle for its 240 MW Pleasant Prairie Solar Energy Center in Franklin County, Ohio. According to Crux, the hybrid tax equity investment is structured to monetize the project’s federal investment tax credits and support the deployment of the solar project.

Independent power producer ACME Solar Holdings has secured ₹15.71 billion (~$164.57 million) in funding from India Infrastructure Finance Company (IIFCL) for the development of a 300 MW firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) project in Rajasthan. IIFCL will be the sole lender for the ACME Renewtech Sixth assured peak power project, with a 19-year repayment tenor.

Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its flagship fund Copenhagen Infrastructure V (CI V), has acquired the Gawara Baya hybrid wind and battery storage project in North Queensland, Australia, from renewable energy developer and operator Windlab. The project comprises a 408 MW onshore wind farm with 68 turbines and a 104 MW battery energy storage system.

Westbridge Renewable Energy, a utility-scale renewable energy project developer, has entered into a definitive share purchase agreement to sell its Red Willow solar and battery storage project in Alberta, Canada. Red Willow is an advanced-stage project in Stettler County No. 6 in central Alberta. It comprises solar generation capacity up to 225 MW and a proposed 100 MW battery energy storage system.

Byhmgard, a utility-scale energy storage project developer, has entered into binding agreements through a wholly owned project company to acquire the rights to the 50 MW Hitura battery energy storage project in Finland. Callio-Hitura Solarpark, a wholly owned subsidiary of developer Solarigo Systems, is selling the project rights. The transaction follows a letter of intent the parties announced on July 23, 2026.
