Gurīn Energy, a renewable energy company headquartered in Singapore, acquired a portfolio of solar and wind projects totaling 303 MW in South Korea from EDP Renewables APAC, which develops and operates solar and renewable energy projects across the Asia-Pacific region.
With this acquisition, Gurīn Energy’s portfolio under development in South Korea expanded to over 600 MW.
“Gurīn Energy is delighted to share that we have significantly grown our presence in South Korea through the acquisition of EDP Renewables APAC’s South Korean portfolio. This milestone reflects our strong belief in South Korea’s potential to be a leader in Asia’s clean energy transition, “said Seongoh Yeom, Representative Director of Gurīn Energy in Seoul.
“We look forward to working closely with our partners, Korean regulators, and local communities to ensure these projects deliver lasting value and contribute to building a more sustainable future for South Korea.”
The company opened its second office in Seoul last month to support its Korean headquarters in Gwangju.
In June 2025, Gurīn Energy selected a subsidiary of TotalEnergies, Saft, to supply a battery energy storage system for its project in Fukushima, Japan. Saft will supply a fully integrated lithium-ion battery system with a total storage capacity of over 1 GWh, along with power conversion and power management systems. This project will be capable of providing over 240 MW of power for four hours. Construction of the battery storage project is expected to begin in 2026.
METLEN Energy & Metals (previously known as MYTILINEOS), a Greek industrial conglomerate, and Korean energy investment and development company HRE entered into an agreement in October 2025, under which HRE will acquire a diversified portfolio of solar projects in South Korea totaling 42 MW.
In the first nine months of 2025, approximately 29 GW of solar projects were acquired compared to 28.3 GW in 9M 2024, according to Mercom’s 9M and Q3 2025 Solar Funding and M&A report.
