Green Hedge Sells 100 MW Battery Storage Project in Germany

Green Hedge Infra, a developer of utility-scale battery energy storage projects, has completed the sale of its first ready-to-build battery storage project in Germany to Econergy, an independent power producer specializing in renewable energy.

The 100 MW project, which is currently under construction, is located on mixed industrial land near Senftenberg in the Brandenburg region, and is expected to provide up to four hours of storage capacity. The transaction was completed in June 2025.

For Econergy, the acquisition forms part of its broader strategy to expand its European storage portfolio, with over 6 GW of energy storage projects across the U.K., Romania, Italy, Poland, and now Germany.

Green Hedge’s leadership team is stated to bring over 20 years of combined experience in battery project development, having delivered more than 360 MW/720 MWh of operational capacity in the U.K.

Legal advisor Osborne Clarke Germany and financial advisor JLL advised Green Hedge on the transaction.

Adrien Lebrun, Managing Director of Green Hedge, commented: “We’re thrilled to complete the sale of our first BESS project in Germany to Econergy, who share our vision and ambition for a renewable-powered world. Strong partnerships are critical to successful BESS project delivery, and we will continue to work closely with Econergy, the City of Senftenberg, and Mitnetz, the Distribution Network Operator, to ensure the project progresses smoothly.”

According to Mercom’s 1H and Q2 2025 Funding and M&A Report for Energy Storage report, announced Energy Storage project financing increased 168% year-over-year in 2025.

In September, DRI, an Amsterdam-based renewable energy company and a subsidiary of the DTEK Group, announced the acquisition of rights to build a 112 MW/448 MWh battery energy storage system from Greenvolt Group, a renewable energy project developer. The project, located in Kozienice, in the east-central part of Poland, was acquired through Greenvolt Power, a developer of utility-scale solar, wind, and energy storage projects.
