European Energy Divests 470 MW Jonava Hybrid Project

European Energy, a renewable energy project developer, has completed the divestment of the 470 MW Jonava renewable energy project in Lithuania to Energix – Renewable Energies, an independent power producer that develops and operates renewable energy projects.

The Jonava hybrid project comprises around 330 MWp of solar, 140 MW of onshore wind, and 320 MWh of energy storage. Construction is expected to commence shortly, with full commercial operation targeted for 2027.

“We have been able to manage a complex development process and deliver a project that meets the technical, regulatory, and commercial requirements of international buyers,” says Jens-Peter Zink, Deputy CEO of European Energy. “Developing renewable energy assets to a stage where key risks are addressed, and value is clearly defined, is what European Energy excels at around our many markets. This model allows us to swiftly push renewable energy deployment and recycle capital into new projects.”

Recently, the company had also completed the divestment of its remaining stake in the 151 MW Mineo solar project to the Italian investment management firm Sosteneo. With this transaction, Sosteneo assumes full ownership of the project and will be responsible for construction and future operations.

In February 2026, European Energy closed a long-term financing of €64.5 million (~$77 million) for the Kvosted hybrid solar and battery energy storage project in Viborg Municipality, Denmark.

During 2025, European Energy brought 1,189 MW of renewable energy projects to final investment decision and into construction, up from 666 MW in 2024. By the end of the year, the company had around 1.3 GW of capacity under construction across eight countries and a combined energy production capacity of 3.8 GW across five technologies, including its managed assets.

According to Mercom’s Annual and Q4 2025 Solar Funding and M&A report, approximately 37.4 GW of solar projects were acquired in 2025, compared to 37.7 GW in 2024.
