Upvolt, a renewable energy solutions provider, has announced the acquisition of OHM Energy, a provider of solar, heating, and electrification systems for homes, businesses, and public-sector organizations. This acquisition brings new expertise to Upvolt, enhancing its capabilities in the renewable energy sector.
Upvolt offers comprehensive solar services, from initial consultation to system design, final installation, and post-installation support.
Through this acquisition, Upvolt is expected to offer fully integrated energy systems across both residential and commercial sectors. The expanded offering includes rooftop solar, battery storage, heating, and electrification solutions, providing its customers with a more comprehensive range of options.
There will be no immediate changes to OHM Energy’s day-to-day operations. Jason Lindfield, Managing Director of OHM Energy, will continue to lead the business, supported by the existing team.
All customer contracts, services, and support agreements will remain unchanged. The acquisition will also add OHM’s training programs for electricians and engineers, which will be delivered in partnership with local councils.
“OHM has built something unique — a technically strong team, a real track record in public-sector delivery, and a focus on long-term partnerships. Their work with local councils, schools, and training academies shows the kind of lasting, local impact we want to be part of. With Jason and the team continuing to lead the business, our goal is simple: support what’s already working and bring the right resources to help OHM grow even further. This is a major step forward for Upvolt’s platform and our mission to accelerate the UK’s energy transition,” said Alex Lomax, CEO of Upvolt.
According to Mercom’s Q1 2025 Solar Funding and M&A report, a total of 19 solar corporate M&A transactions were recorded in Q1 2025, compared to 20 transactions in Q4 2024, and 10% lower compared to 21 solar M&A transactions in Q1 2024.
In April, Utility E.ON UK announced that it had signed an agreement to fully acquire Eco2Solar, a residential and commercial solar installation company. E.ON UK has already acquired a 49% stake in Eco2Solar back in December 2020. The financial terms of the acquisition were undisclosed.
