Fidra Energy, a U.K.-based battery energy storage project developer, has reached financial close on its 500 MW/1.1 GWh West Burton C battery storage project in Nottinghamshire, England. EIG and the National Wealth Fund will invest in the West Burton C project. In addition, the company has also secured £231 million (~$312 million) in new loan facilities. Fidra will build the project at the site of the former West Burton coal power station. Construction is scheduled to begin later in 2026, and the facility is expected to become fully operational in 2028.
Qualitas Energy, an investment firm specializing in renewable energy, energy transition, and sustainable infrastructure, has secured approximately €53 million (~$61 million) to finance the construction of a 117 MW solar portfolio in Poland. The greenfield portfolio comprises two solar projects owned by Qualitas Energy. The projects are located near Słoniawy in the Masovian Voivodeship and Końskie in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. The projects are expected to begin commercial operations in 2027.
Citicore Renewable Energy Corporation, a renewable energy developer, has signed a ₱4.05 billion (~$66 million) project finance loan facility with LANDBANK to develop two solar and battery storage projects in the Philippines. The company will develop the projects through its subsidiary, Citicore Solar Embedded. The projects will be located in Pampanga and Nueva Ecija. Each project will comprise a 41 MW solar power project paired with a 53 MWh battery energy storage system.
Independent power producer ACME Solar Holdings has secured long-term project financing of ₹26.47 billion (~$274.5 million) for its 450 MW/1,800 MWh firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) project from REC. The funding will support the development of the project, undertaken by ACME Solar’s special-purpose vehicle, ACME Greentech Seventh Assured Peak Power Project. ACME Solar said the project combines solar generation with battery energy storage to meet assured peak power supply obligations.
Sonnedix, an independent solar power producer, has announced the acquisition of a 260 MW battery storage portfolio in Tuscania, Italy, from Sphera Energy. The portfolio comprises two adjacent standalone battery storage projects. One project has 160 MW of power capacity and a four-hour duration, while the other has 100 MW and the same duration. The acquisition increases Sonnedix’s global battery storage portfolio to approximately 2.8 GW, according to the company.
