Nexwell Power, a Nexwell Group institutional-grade platform focused on accelerating the energy transition, announced the acquisition of a 248 MW solar project portfolio from Q ENERGY, a renewable energy company headquartered in Berlin and an affiliate of the Hanwha Group.
The portfolio comprises seven solar projects located across the regions of Andalusia and Aragon in Spain.
Currently, four of the solar projects are under construction and are expected to begin operation in early 2026. These include the 72 MW Andújar projects located in Andújar (Jaén), the 26 MW Silverio project in Guadalcázar (Córdoba), and the 45 MW Mudéjar project located near Samper de Calanda and Híjar (Teruel).
The remaining three projects, all in the advanced development phase, are the Peñaflor 1, Peñaflor 2, and Peñaflor 3 projects, located in Zaragoza, with a total capacity of 105 MW.
Once operational, the projects are expected to generate a total of 500 GWh of clean energy per year. The company did not disclose financial details of the acquisition.
Mr. Miguel Muñoz, COO of Nexwell Power, stated, “This acquisition marks a key step in Nexwell Power’s evolution into a next-generation renewable energy producer.” Mr. Muñoz also added, “It reinforces our commitment to net-zero targets through cutting-edge solar PV and high-capacity hybrid systems. With this investment, we’re deepening our footprint in Aragon—a fast-emerging hub for large-scale tech and data centers—by delivering customized energy solutions, as reflected in our recent PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements) with a leading US technology company.”
According to Mercom’s Q1 2025 Solar Funding and M&A report, about 13.6 GW of solar projects were acquired in Q1 2025 compared to 10.8 GW in Q1 2024.
Earlier this week, Peak Energy, an Asia-based renewable energy project developer, announced the completion of the acquisition of a portfolio of ready-to-build high-voltage solar projects totaling 48 MW of capacity in Japan, located across various regions of the country, including Tokyo and Tohoku.
