Zenith Acquires Solar Project in Italy, Expands Pipeline to 212 MW

Zenith Energy, an energy company focused on production and project development, has acquired Stradella 1, a ground-mounted solar photovoltaic development project with an indicative installed capacity of approximately 9 MW in the Province of Pavia, Lombardy, Italy.

The Stradella 1 project will occupy approximately 9.5 hectares of level land. The site is about 350 meters from an operational industrial area and 300 meters from a motorway.

The project is also approximately 2 kilometers from the Broni-Stradella electricity infrastructure, including substations operated by Terna and e-distribuzione.

Zenith classified Stradella 1 as a development-stage project. With an installed capacity below 10 MW, the company expects the project to qualify for the PAS simplified authorization procedure.

Final grid connection terms will be determined through the Soluzione Tecnica Minima Generale, the grid operator’s formal proposal specifying the connection point, technical solution, and connection costs.

The Acquisition increases Zenith’s total solar development pipeline to approximately 212 MW, with a target of 240 MW by the end of 2026.

“Stradella 1 is our first step into Lombardy on a well-located site of exactly the type we look for. Just as importantly, we will commit capital only once the grid connection has been confirmed through the STMG, which is the discipline we apply to every acquisition. Only weeks after raising our target to 240 MW, we continue to build scale across Italy. Our objective remains to reach, and if possible exceed, that target by the end of 2026, and to convert this scale into tangible value for Zenith shareholders. We are actively in discussions with interested buyers on asset monetization, and expect to generate significant revenue from these sales towards the end of this year or the beginning of 2027,” said Andrea Cattaneo, Chief Executive Officer, Zenith Energy

According to Mercom’s 1H and Q2 2026 Solar Funding and M&A report, approximately 25.2 GW of solar projects were acquired in the first half of 2026, compared to 19.9 GW in the first half of 2025.

In August, Heelstone Renewable Energy, an independent power producer and a Qualitas Energy company, acquired the development-stage Cypress Pointe Solar project in Texas. Situated in Sabine County within the Southwest Power Pool market, the project has a planned capacity of about 188 MW and is expected to begin commercial operations in 2029.
