Scatec Secures $479 Million for Solar and Storage Project in Egypt

Swap Robotics, a utility-scale solar robotic operations company, has secured $3 million in funding, bringing the company’s total funding raised to date to $15 million.

Silicon Ranch, a developer, owner, and operator of solar projects, provided this funding. Additionally, Reagan Farr, Co-Founder and CEO of Silicon Ranch, will join the board of directors at Swap Robotics, as per the terms of the investment.

The investment from Silicon Ranch follows previous investments in Swap Robotics, including a $7 million investment led by SOLV Energy and a $3 million investment from Array Technologies.

This funding is expected to help expand Swap Robotics further in the North American solar sector, having already maintained solar sites through the deployment of dozens of robots.

“Soon after our founding in 2019, we set out to be the category creator of a solar robotics platform. “This latest investment recognizes our position as a leader in the category and allows us to continue innovating and expanding in what is still an early and rapidly growing industry in North America. It’s also a tremendous vote of confidence coming from Silicon Ranch, a respected pioneer and leader in solar development, operations, and sustainable land management,” said Tim Lichti, Founder and CEO of Swap Robotics.

According to Mercom’s recently released Q1 2025 Solar Funding and M&A Report, global VC funding for the solar sector in Q1 2025 totaled $1.4 billion across 14 deals, representing a 237% year-over-year (YoY) increase from $406 million raised in 13 deals in Q1 2024. Funding increased 40% QoQ compared to the $1 billion raised in 21 deals in Q4 2024.

In January, China-based robotic solar module cleaning solutions firm Sunpure announced that it has completed its Series A funding round of ¥100 million (~$676,221) led by Hengxu Capital. Yuantai Investment Partners Fund, Guoyuan Fund, and the company’s existing shareholder, GL Venture, also participated in this round.
