Palisade to Acquire 960 MWh Summerfield Battery Storage Project

Palisade Investment Partners, an independent global infrastructure and real assets manager, has signed an agreement with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, a global fund manager, to acquire a 100% ownership interest in the Summerfield battery energy storage system (BESS).

Located approximately 50 km east of Adelaide, South Australia, the Summerfield BESS project has a capacity of 240 MW/960 MWh. Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners had developed the project, which began construction in February 2025.

Palisade is acquiring the Summerfield BESS partway through the construction phase, with commercial operation scheduled to commence in late 2026. The project also benefits from a long-term tolling agreement with Origin Energy.

Blue Power Partners will continue to manage the construction of the BESS project through to commercial operations, following which Palisade’s operational management services arm, Palisade Integrated Management Services, will carry out asset management activities.

Palisade reached this agreement to acquire the project through Intera Renewables, Palisade’s Australian renewable energy platform and the principal investment of Palisade’s Renewable Energy Fund (PREF), which has a 50% ownership interest in the platform alongside Palisade’s Diversified Infrastructure Fund (PDIF), the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), Aware Super, and HESTA.

Simon Parbery, Partner at Palisade, said, “We are excited to be working with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners in delivering this significant project for our investors and Australia’s broader clean energy transition goals. Summerfield represents Palisade’s second investment in large-scale energy storage, providing both attractive risk-adjusted returns to investors and long-term strategic value to our Australian renewables platform Intera Renewables.”

With this acquisition, Palisade’s renewable energy portfolio totals 2.5 GW on a 100% ownership basis, including 2.2 GW in Australia. The company manages and operates a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects in Australia and the U.S. Macquarie Capital, KWM, DLA Piper, and Ekistica advised the acquirer on the transaction.

According to Mercom’s Annual and Q4 2025 Funding and M&A Report for Energy Storage, there were 65 energy storage project M&A transactions in 2025, compared to 38 transactions in 2024.
