Neoen, an independent renewable energy producer that develops, finances, builds, and operates large-scale solar, wind, and battery storage projects, has entered into an agreement with Plenitude, a subsidiary of Eni, to sell a 760 MW portion of its French operating asset portfolio.
The portfolio consists of 52 renewable energy assets, which include 37 solar projects, 14 onshore wind projects, and one battery storage project. Neoen will continue to manage the projects for some years through the provision of asset management services to Plenitude.
The transaction, which is targeted for completion by year’s end, remains subject to customary closing conditions, including the issuance of regulatory approvals.
Following the transaction, Neoen will have 1.1 GW of capacity either operating or under construction in France, comprising 754 MW of solar, 307 MW of onshore wind, and 115 MW/213 MWh of battery storage.
Guillaume Decaen, Regional CEO of Neoen France, said: “This transaction is a recognition of Neoen’s end-to-end expertise in developing, building, and operating quality assets. We look forward to providing asset management services to Plenitude and to maintaining our relationships with local stakeholders. With close to 2 GW of capacity delivered in France, we are proud to remain the country’s leading independent player, and we are more dedicated than ever to accelerating the energy transition in France.”
In the first nine months of 2025, approximately 29 GW of solar projects were acquired compared to 28.3 GW in 9M 2024, according to Mercom’s 9M and Q3 2025 Solar Funding and M&A report.
In October, Gurīn Energy, a renewable energy company headquartered in Singapore, acquired a portfolio of solar and wind projects totaling 303 MW in South Korea from EDP Renewables APAC, which develops and operates solar and renewable energy projects across the Asia-Pacific region. With this acquisition, Gurīn Energy’s portfolio under development in South Korea expanded to over 600 MW.
