BayWa r.e. Sells 63 MW Solar Project in the UK

BayWa r.e., a renewable energy project developer, has sold a 63 MWp solar project in the U.K. to the global private asset management firm Capital Dynamics.

Located in Hampshire, the project is scheduled to commence construction in 2027. The project will be supported by an allocation round 7 (AR7) Contracts for Difference (CfD) offtake agreement and is expected to achieve commercial operation by 2028.

Commenting on the acquisition, Barney Coles, Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Clean Energy at Capital Dynamics, said, “The U.K. remains one of our core markets for investment, underpinned by strong fundamentals. We continue to see sustained momentum for the wider energy transition at a time when more investment is needed to meet the U.K.’s dual energy security and climate goals.”

This acquisition adds to Capital Dynamics’ growing portfolio of solar projects in the U.K., as the firm invests in the energy infrastructure. Earlier, in 2025, the company had acquired a portfolio of two solar projects totaling an installed capacity of at least 121 MW in the U.K. from BayWa r.e. and Grune Energien.

Previously, in March 2026, BayWa r.e. also completed the sale of 100% of the share capital of its subsidiary WHF 01 to NetOn Power, a renewable energy platform launched by investment firms Quantum Energy Partners and 547 Energy. The special-purpose vehicle, controlled by BayWa r.e. Power Solutions, includes a portfolio of four commercial and industrial solar rooftop and carport projects located across Italy, totaling approximately 14 MWp. The portfolio comprises two operational and two ready-to-build projects.

BayWa r.e. has said it will continue to focus on its core market in Europe and will pursue a selective approach in the U.S. market in view of the prevailing regulatory and energy policy uncertainties. The company is continuing its strategic restructuring with an updated plan due to deteriorating conditions in the renewable energy sector.

According to Mercom’s Annual and Q4 2025 Solar Funding and M&A report, approximately 37.4 GW of solar projects were acquired in 2025, compared to 37.7 GW in 2024.
