Alight Acquires 2 GW Solar Portfolio in Sweden from Soltech Energy

From: Mercom India

Nordic solar developer and independent power producer Alight has acquired 40 large-scale solar projects in southern Sweden from Soltech Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of Soltech Energy Sweden.

The portfolio has approximately 2 GW of planned solar capacity and includes options to add co-located battery storage at most sites. The portfolio spans electricity price areas SE3 and SE4 in southern Sweden.

According to the release, the acquisition increases Alight’s solar and energy storage development pipeline in the Nordic region to more than 5 GW. Alight will continue developing the projects through the permitting and grid connection processes and plans to advance them to the ready-to-build stage.

The transaction was completed following approval from Sweden’s Inspectorate of Strategic Products. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The projects are intended to support long-term power purchase agreements. Under Alight’s model, the company builds, owns, and operates solar projects and sells electricity to commercial and industrial customers at a fixed price under long-term agreements.

“We have spent several years building this portfolio and taking the projects from early development to today’s level of maturity. The projects are now entering a phase where a long-term investor is better placed to take them towards investment decision and construction. We look forward to continuing our good collaboration with Alight for many years to come,” says Christoffer Caesar, CEO at Soltech Energy Solutions.

The company recently inaugurated the 215 MW Lidsø Solar Park on Lolland in Denmark, which Alight described as one of the largest solar parks in the Nordic region. In September, Alight also inaugurated the 101 MW Eurajoki Solar Park in Finland with Autoliv.

In February, Alight acquired two solar projects with a combined capacity of more than 200 MW located in eastern Finland from the Finnish project developer 3Flash.

According to Mercom’s 1H and Q2 2026 Solar Funding and M&A report, approximately 25.2 GW of solar projects were acquired in the first half of 2026, compared to 19.9 GW in the first half of 2025.
