rPlus Energies, a U.S.-based renewable energy developer, announced the acquisition of two solar and storage projects in Ada County, Idaho. The projects, Blacks Creek Energy Center and Bluebird Solar, together represent a combined 900 MW of solar and storage capacity.
The Blacks Creek Energy Center project was acquired from Qcells, a utility-scale solar and energy storage project developer and solar EPC provider. The project includes 400 MW of solar and an additional phase with 200 MW of storage.
The Bluebird solar project was acquired from Mission Clean Energy, a utility-scale renewable energy and storage developer. The project includes 200 MW of solar and 100 MW of storage. The projects are expected to come by 2027 and 2028.
These additions build on rPlus Energies’ existing developments in Ada County, including Pleasant Valley Solar 1, where the company holds a minority stake, and Pleasant Valley Solar 2, which it wholly owns and is currently under construction. Together, the four developments represent more than $1.4 billion in investment and over 1.2 GW of solar and storage capacity, creating a strategic clean energy cluster in the region.
Buy-side legal advisors for the two acquisitions included Latham & Watkins for Blacks Creek Energy Center and Dorsey & Whitney for Bluebird Solar.
“Idaho represents one of the most exciting frontiers for energy in the American West,” said Luigi Resta, President and CEO of rPlus Energies. “Through these projects, we’re investing in the communities that are powering the region’s next generation of growth and delivering the reliable, homegrown energy that Idaho and its businesses deserve.”
In the first nine months of 2025, approximately 29 GW of solar projects were acquired compared to 28.3 GW in 9M 2024, according to Mercom’s 9M and Q3 2025 Solar Funding and M&A report.
In October, European Energy, a renewable energy project developer, agreed to sell a 50% stake in its 111 MW Saldus solar and battery project in Latvia to Sampension, a Danish pension fund organization.
