Capital Dynamics Acquires 121 MW Solar Project Portfolio

Capital Dynamics, a private asset management firm, acquired a portfolio of two solar projects totaling an installed capacity of at least 121 MW in the U.K. from BayWa r.e. and Grune Energien.

The portfolio comprises the 77 MWp Clump farm located in Leicestershire and the 44 MWp Yanel Solar farm situated in North Somerset.

The projects are scheduled to commence construction in 2026. Both projects are expected to achieve commercial operations by 2027 and will be supported by AR6 contracts-for-difference offtake agreements.

Commenting on the acquisition, Barney Coles, Senior Managing Director and Co-Head of Clean Energy at Capital Dynamics, said, “We are delighted to make this investment, which is another significant milestone for us as we build out our renewables capacity in the UK. The investment will help further the UK’s energy security and make a real economic impact in the local community.”

In September 2025, Capital Dynamics sold a portfolio of utility-scale solar projects with a combined capacity of 226 MW to Sonnedix, an independent solar power producer. The portfolio comprised five subsidy-free solar projects located across Lazio and Sicily in Italy and is backed by long-term Pay-as-Produced power purchase agreements. Four of the five projects in the portfolio are operational.

Capital Dynamics has previously secured €185 million (~$199.54 million) in project financing in 2024 for two solar projects with a total capacity of 187 MW in Sicily, Italy. The projects are expected to produce approximately 324 GWh of clean electricity annually.

BayWa r.e. reached a total of 235 MW of consented solar capacity in 2025, including the company’s first development consent order approval for the Oaklands solar project and securing planning permission for the Redshaw battery storage project. Currently, the company’s U.K. development pipeline includes more than 3.3 GW of solar, onshore wind, and battery energy storage projects.

In the first nine months of 2025, approximately 29 GW of solar projects were acquired compared to 28.3 GW in 9M 2024, according to Mercom’s 9M and Q3 2025 Solar Funding and M&A report.
