Powerline, a startup providing software-based intelligence solutions for batteries, has secured $7 million in seed funding, led by MaC Venture Capital, with participation from LG Technology Ventures, J-Impact Fund, and other strategic investors across the energy ecosystem.
Powerline is building the AI intelligence layer and digital testbeds for battery portfolios. The technology is stated to provide bottom-up simulations and operational data to build digital twins of battery projects.
With the new funding, Powerline aims to expand its battery portfolio intelligence platform globally. Following early traction in Australia and the U.K., the company plans further growth across the U.S. and Europe over the coming year.
“We have witnessed firsthand the unprecedented growth in energy storage” said Matineh Eybpoosh, co-founder & CEO of Powerline. “There are many new challenges that come with scaling this quickly. Operating battery portfolios today requires far more than a strong forecast or a reliable optimizer. Operators are navigating increasing portfolio-wide complexity, fragmented strategies across assets, growing market saturation and tighter margins, shifting volatility patterns, and constantly evolving incentive structures. These dynamics are reshaping what it means to run storage fleets effectively in modern power markets.”
According to Mercom’s Annual and Q4 2025 Funding and M&A for Energy Storage report, VC funding in the Energy Storage sector in 2025 increased 30% YoY, to $4.8 billion across 75 deals, up from $3.7 billion across 84 deals in 2024. Energy Storage Downstream companies received the most VC funding in 2025. Other top-funded categories included Materials & Components providers, Energy Storage Systems providers, Battery Recycling, and Li-based Battery companies.
In March 2025, Capalo AI, a provider of battery energy storage-based virtual power plant solutions, secured €3.8 million (~$4 million) in a seed funding round led by VentureFriends and PROfounders, with participation from existing investors Inventure and Innovestor. The company also recently announced a partnership in Sweden with Å Entelios, a Nordic utility company.
