Funding and M&A Roundup: Suniva Raises $835 Million

Suniva, a manufacturer of monocrystalline silicon solar cells, has completed an $835 million capital raise comprising debt and equity financing to fund its second U.S. solar cell manufacturing facility and increase its total manufacturing capacity to 5.5 GW. The financing includes senior secured credit facilities provided by funds managed by Goldman Sachs Alternatives and I Squared Capital, and a second-lien credit facility provided by JBA Asset Management. The company plans to use the capital to construct a 4.5 GW manufacturing facility in Laurens County, South Carolina. Suniva expects to complete the facility in late 2027 and reach full production in 2028.

R3 Lithium, a company that recovers lithium carbonate from recycled battery materials, has raised $15 million in Series A funding and begun operations at its lithium carbonate recovery facility in Covington, Georgia. Integral GlobalTech Partners, TDK Ventures, and Axial Partners participated in the funding round. The company acquired the 154,000-square-foot facility in July 2026 and retained the leadership team that demonstrated commercial-scale recycled lithium production there in 2025. According to R3 Lithium, the facility’s production line previously produced lithium carbonate with 99% purity using 100% recycled content on a commercial scale.

Rebaba, a Swedish company that develops second-life battery energy storage systems using repurposed EV batteries, has raised $4.6 million (SEK 44.1 million) in an oversubscribed seed funding round to scale its second-life battery energy storage operations across Europe. According to the release, the funding will be used to scale the company’s operations in response to commercial demand, including fulfilling previously undisclosed agreements in Sweden and Denmark. The company also plans to increase the annual production capacity at its CircularHub to 40 MWh/year and hire employees across multiple roles.

Furo, a software company that controls and optimizes commercial and industrial battery storage systems, has raised $4 million to expand its AI-driven platform. TQ Ventures led the funding round, with participation from Neo, Sandberg Bernthal Venture Partners, and CDTM Venture Capital. The company’s platform forecasts electricity prices and weather up to 48 hours in advance, uses this to optimize storage operations in real time, and markets unused capacity in energy trading. Furo sells through installers, project developers, storage manufacturers, and energy suppliers. Companies are said to use its software at over 6,000 sites across Germany and Europe.
