According to the Indian Minister of Power, solar
installations in India are expected to double in the next 15 months to cross 20
GW by June 2018. As of March this year, installed solar power capacity crossed 10
GW, four times the installed capacity three years ago.
The sector has
reached a certain maturity level which will lead to the country becoming
self-reliant in meeting its green energy requirement. The proof is the drastic
reduction in solar power costs, becoming comparable with thermal power in India,
added Mr. Goyal.
