The National Thermal Power Corporation
(NTPC), the country’s single largest electricity generator, has invited bids
for 250 MW of solar capacity in the Pavagada Solar Park in Karnataka as part of
NTPC’s self-owned and developed project initiative. The capacity has been split
into five projects of 50 MW each and the projects must meet domestic content
requirements (DCR) by using domestically manufactured PV cells and modules.
The projects are to be developed on a turnkey
basis by eligible developers. Along with the development of the project, the
developers will be responsible for the comprehensive operation &
maintenance of the project for a period of five years.
The state-owned utility intends to finance
the projects through domestic or external commercial borrowing. NTPC earlier in
the year had tendered 250 MW solar projects under DCR category at Pavagada, but cancelled it.
