Memorandum of Agreements for Sale of Power from 1,000 MW Wind Projects Auctioned by SECI Signed

Memorandum of Agreements for the sale of power from 1,000 MW wind capacity auctioned by Solar Energy Corporation of India, has been signed. The agreements to purchase the power under the Ministry of Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) wind auction program were signed between PTC India, the trading company, and DISCOMs (distribution companies) of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi, Odisha, and Assam.

The DISCOMs of Uttar Pradesh will buy 449.9 MW, Bihar will buy 200 MW, Jharkhand will buy 200 MW, Delhi will buy 100 MW, Assam will buy 50 MW, and Odisha will buy 50 MW of wind power for meeting their non-solar renewable purchase obligation. The PTC India will be trading in power generated from these projects.

The Letter of Award (LoA) to the successful wind power developers under the first wind auction program were provided by SECI on April 5, 2017 and the projects are to be commissioned within 18 months from the date of issue of LoA.

Mercom previously reported that in the first ever wind auction in India, SECI received technical bids aggregating 2,600 MW for the 1,000 MW capacity and five companies quoted the same low bid of Rs.3.46 (~$0.051)/unit for project capacities of 250 MW each.
