Mizoram is the 27th Indian State to join the
Ujwal DISCOM (distribution company) Assurance Yojana (UDAY) program which was
implemented by the government of India to assist in the financial and operational
turnaround of DISCOMs.
The Government of India and the State Government of Mizoram
signed a memorandum of understanding on April 2, 2017, to bring about the
operational turnaround of Mizoram’s Power
Department, stated a government
will derive a net benefit of approximately Rs.1.98 billion (~$30.5 million) through
UDAY and allow speedy availability of less expensive power to 22,007 households
in the state that are still without electricity.

the UDAY program in March, 2017.
